Particle Size Seminar [Feb. 25th, 2009|06:17 pm]
I went to a really good seminar today on particle size analysis. It was a free seminar put on the manufacturers of the instruments with the goal being to sell you an instrument. But it was the best one of these free seminars I have gone to and I learned a lot. So I have increased respect for Microfluidics and Horriba.

The International [Feb. 20th, 2009|09:54 pm]
I just saw the movie, The International, and I really liked it. I thought it was really well done with a lot of attention to detail and I never felt the move was insulting my intelligence. There was a really cool seen in the Guggenheim museum. If you like intelligent drama/action movies, you should go see this one.

Cruise Time [Jan. 31st, 2009|09:20 am]
Ben and I are heading out on a Caribbean cruise. This is my first cruise and I have to say this is the winter to do it. This is a ships and dips cruise which means we will have lots of bands and live music, including Bare Naked Ladies, Great Big Sea, and Sarah McLaughlin. I think it should be lots of fun. And we are going with some other friends. See you guys when we get back.

Parties and Friends [Jan. 3rd, 2009|09:33 am]
Thank you everyone who came our New Years Party. It was a great party as always, and this year we didn't miss the ball drop, unlike last year. New Years Day was very nice too as Ben and I hung out at Utter Chaos. It is so great to have friends that you can just hang out at their house all day and chill. Between the party and New Years Day, I am feeling very grateful for all the awesome friends in my life.

I am looking forward to the new year as well. I have a new job I will be starting in February and so January I am going to work on getting the house organized and working out. And making some props for TOV.

Free Queen Mattress [Dec. 4th, 2008|10:17 pm]
Does anyone want a decent Queen sized mattress. We upgraded to a king sized bed. The mattress is 8 years old but in reasonable condition. We might be able to help with transporting it.

Update [Dec. 3rd, 2008|08:39 pm]
I was laid off from work today. Not entirely unexpected as the company was fast running out of money. They let go 9 out of 35 employees. And I kind of wanted to leave anyway. I had some ovens in the fire but if anyone knows of a materials science position in the Boston area, please let me know.

I thought this test was pretty cool and a good assessment of me.

Canada [Jul. 3rd, 2008|08:06 am]
Ben and I are off to Canada for a week. We are staying in a lakeside cabin owned by some friend that we are also traveling with. It should be a nice fun week. We will be out of contact so don't be sad if we don't respond to email or cell phones.

(no subject) [Jun. 5th, 2008|07:29 pm]
I am a little behind the times but I have been tagged and so here goes.

The Rules:
1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.
3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people.

1. I own a lot of chapstick. I can't leave home without it. I have it in every jacket pocket and most rooms in the house.

2. I actually like country music. Although since I grew up in Texas that isn't that shocking.

3. I can do three dimensional art like sculpting but cannot do two dimensional art like drawing.

4. I really like bubble tea.

5. I used to wear these earrings in high school that made it look like my ears were pierced three times even though they weren't so that people would think I was less nerdy. I still have them.

6. I will travel long distances for food I crave.

7. I have really bad handwriting. It could be its own language it is so bad.

8. I would like to own a horse some day.

Wow, that was kind of hard. Enjoy.

Ski Trip [Mar. 6th, 2008|08:01 pm]
Ben and I took a trip out to Utah for some skiing with my friend Denise. It was pretty awesome. She had done all the planning so we just showed up. She even ordered all the lift tickets ahead of time so we got discounts. It is funny but lift tickets are a lot cheaper in Utah than in New England, even though the mountains are so much bigger. We thought it might have to do we the lack of snow making equipment needed in Utah.

There was a snowstorm on Saturday night that dropped 16 inches of powder so I did get to ski through powder up to my waist. Although, it depends on your definition of skiing. I fell a lot in the powder. I found it much harder to turn in and if you don't lean back to keep your ski tips up you can tumble head over heels. Which I did. But it was still fun.

The following day it was sunny and the powder had been flattened. I had the best day of skiing ever at The Canyons. I like skiing a lot better when it is sunny and you can see the terrain. The white on white terrain is hard to see if it is cloudy. Anyway, it was fun. There are some pictures here
